Sammy was the spark. Sara, his rescuer, had a dream: a sanctuary where animals would be seen, known, and loved, not just sheltered. From a small act of kindness came a growing mission of refuge and rehabilitation. At Sammy’s, every dog has a name, a story, and a future. With open space, warm beds, and even warmer hearts, we’re redefining what animal rescue looks and feels like
Our Mission
Our mission is driven by the heart. We exist to rescue animals—especially Shih Tzu's—in need of medical care, love, and a safe place to thrive. Every rescue is a chance to rewrite a story and restore trust. We are committed to providing compassionate care and refuge for animals, and to being a trustworthy partner for shelters, other rescues, pet owners, and our community.

At Sammy’s, animals aren’t shuffled through—they’re welcomed in. With soft landings, gentle voices, and daily care, we nurture each rescue’s path to wholeness. Our work is slow, intentional, and built on relationship—not just rehoming.
We're Here to Serve
Sammy’s Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. We specialize in Shih Tzu's and small dogs who have been surrendered, abandoned, or overlooked. Many are older, shy, or misunderstood—but we see their worth. We walk with them patiently and lovingly.

Our goal is simple: to provide these dogs with a place of respite for as long as they need us—whether it's for a season or the rest of their days. And when and if they’re ready, we help them find their perfect forever match.
