Five Years Later: Milo's Happy Life After an Epilepsy Diagnosis

Five years ago, our lives changed forever when we met a tiny 12-week-old puppy named Milo.
His owner was out of options. Milo was experiencing continuous seizures and was facing euthanasia. Thankfully, another rescue connected his owner with Sammy's Animal Rescue before it was too late.

We immediately got Milo to the emergency veterinarian, where he was hospitalized and stabilized. It was the beginning of a journey that would require patience, dedication, and hope.
Once he was strong enough to come home, Milo began taking daily medication while we searched for answers. A full neurological workup eventually gave us a diagnosis: epilepsy.
For many, a diagnosis like that can feel overwhelming. But for us, it simply meant learning what Milo needed to live his best life.
Today, Milo takes his medication twice a day, and in the five years since his diagnosis, he's only experienced about six small breakthrough seizures.
The rest of the time?
He's exactly who he's always wanted to be, a goofy, affectionate ham who loves life.
Milo reminds us that a medical diagnosis doesn't define a dog. With the right care, commitment, and a family willing to say "yes," dogs with medical needs can thrive.
His story is also a reminder of why rescue matters. Sometimes all it takes is one person making one phone call instead of giving up. One rescue willing to say yes.
One chance.
Five years later, we're incredibly grateful that Milo got his.
Thank you for following his journey and for supporting a rescue that believes every dog deserves the opportunity to write a new story. ❤️
