Meet Sara: Our Founder

Some people choose rescue. For Sara, rescue chose her.

Animals have always gravitated toward her—instinctively sensing the safety, care, and calm she carries. From the time she was a child, Sara was the one bringing home strays, finding shelter for the forgotten, and loving creatures that others overlooked.

What began as a lifelong bond with animals has become a mission: to create a haven where vulnerable pets—especially dogs—can find refuge, recovery, and a chance at the life they deserve.

At Sammy’s Animal Rescue, every animal is seen, known, and treated with dignity. Named in honor of a beloved Shih Tzu who overcame trauma to live out his days in sunshine and peace, the rescue is a labor of love rooted in compassion, commitment, and trust.

This is not just a shelter. This is respite. A bridge between despair and healing. A place where animals are not warehoused, but welcomed—where they aren’t just given food and shelter, but safety, love, and a voice.

We believe rescue is relational. That care is a daily act of service. And that people matter in this story too—those surrendering, fostering, supporting, and loving.

Sara’s vision is growing: to provide relief for owners facing hard decisions, financial help for those in crisis, and support for shelters overwhelmed by need. Her leadership and heart continue to build a rescue rooted in transparency, partnership, and transformation.
